I had applied for this job in the spring but was told five days before the closing date that the position had already been filled. I thought that was kind of odd but whatever ... does anyone sense from the tone of the ad that they were less than pleased with their choice?

Candidates will have previous experience as an editor, leading a team of reporters and contributors along with having strong writing, photography and layout skills. You must also be ambitious, have a flair for headline writing and eye-catching page layout, as well as the ability to generate dynamic story ideas and a commitment to fair, and balanced reporting. And of course, well researched and must read weekly editorials are required. The candidate must enjoy a challenge, be able to work flexible hours and meet deadlines. Duties will include a wide range of subjects including feature writing and special sections. A working knowledge of QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop and MacIntosh computer is essential. Opportunity for advancement within the company as well as an excellent benefit package are available.
