Well, if there's one book a former newspaper editor knows cold, it's Exodus

Donations are up only 30 percent. We need to drop half the altar boys.

We're selling the press and shifting the bulletin printing off-site. Also, the bulletin will be designed by a team of church secretary associates at the Congregational United Church of Christ office in California. Therefore, the new bulletin deadline is 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Listen, kid. If you don't have the heart to interview Mary at the crucifixion, maybe you aren't meant for this business.

Revelation? There's no room for something written in the future when the author wasn't even there! Now to lead us in the benediction is Brother Mitch Albom ...

"We need a weather story for tomorrow. Why don't you call that guy that's building the ark?"

All jokes aside -- and there are some good, if somewhat easy, obvious and cliche-ish ones here -- this former editor has been out of the journalism industry for some time now if 2006 is when he finished up.

His heading a church is more logical and less unusual than this thread's headline implies. It's not like he's just gone from a newsroom to a pulpit, and he apparently had the training/background to do exactly what he's doing. In this instance, it's a career change that's different but also one that makes perfect sense.

Ummm, yeah. I'm gonna need another source about this Sodom and Gomorrah thing. If you can't get me Lot or his wife, well... we're gonna have to sit on it until you can.

Hey Thomas, this guy's story doesn't scan. Go out there and see what you can't dig up.

Natural fit. God, journalism both declared dead, people still arguing about it.

"Can you get me a sidebar and info box about the other guys who were crucified today?"
