I hope to see Tampa Bay Times Exec Editor Mark Katches take a big step up in the next round of musical chairs. He has run a couple of smaller newsrooms known for innovation, and his leadership has earned several Pulitzers. I believe he's a Calif guy, so the LA Times job looked like a good fit. Maybe when Merida hangs it up.

I've worked with a number of people who moved up to the big leagues, but Katches is the most able.

So anyone know what's up with ESPN? I know they had a bunch of clawbacks due to COVID and everyone took a haircut or was let go - but seeing quite a few names head back to print is - interesting to say the least.

Or when a hedge fund gobbles it up.

Very true. Maybe working for a nonprofit is the best place to be at this point.

A little more job security, but the pay will likely be shit.
