    The CCNA and AWNA award winning Canmore Leader and The Banff Crag & Canyon are currently accepting applications for an Editor.

    We are looking for an ambitious, deadline-oriented team builder who will strive to keep us at number one in a highly competitive market. The Leader and Crag & Canyon operate a five-person newsroom in two locations under the direction of one managing editor.

    This position is based in our Canmore office, but visits are required in Banff.

    Canmore and Banff are stunning mountain towns twenty minutes apart with lots of places to play when you’re not working hard. Recreational opportunities here are spectacular and limitless, and include hiking, rock and ice climbing, cross-country and downhill skiing, fishing, golfing, mountain biking, curling, hockey… you get the picture. Both Banff and Canmore also offer a lot in terms of cultural opportunities, thanks in part to the world renowned Banff Centre, but also a wide variety of local culture groups — everything from talented community theatre troupes to community bands and Highland dancing.

    Qualifications
    The ideal candidate will possess strong editing and design skills, proficiency with a camera and Photoshop, and knowledge of page layout using Quark Xpress. A positive, community-minded attitude and the ability and desire to be Number 1 with Bow Valley readers is a must. As the key contact, you are expected to maintain an active role in both communities and guide the reporters with story planning and ideas. A strong knowledge of Town Council, Court, Business and Sports are required. A reliable vehicle is necessary for which a mileage allowance is paid. A camera allowance is also available for suitable digital photography equipment.
