    Since subtlety didn't work.

Could've, could have. NOT Could of.

93D wouldn't know subtlety if it hit him like a ton of bricks.

Oh, I know I fucked that up. I would rather not turn the 38th Martinez HOF thread into a grammar lesson. :)

Lots of great men didn't accomplish very much in their 20s.
    See Della's argument.

I understand that. But this wasn't a young kid not playing because his skills weren't good enough or he had turned into what he did the latter stages of his career.

As a 24 and 25 year old he got a combined 80 MLB plate appearances.
he got 531 PA in triple AAA at 24 and went .329/.434/.474
He got 407 PA in triple AAA at 25 and went .363/.467/.517

Instead of playing with the Mariners, Seattle decided to run Jim Presley out there for nearly 1,200 plate appearance in those two seasons and he went .247/.296/.433 and then .230/.280/.355.

Mary's and Joseph's pep talk on Jesus' 30th birthday worked wonders.

And from ages 20 to 24, Lefty Grove went 108-36 for the Baltimore Orioles of the International League because Jack Dunn wouldn't sell him to the majors. Sucks for him.

He still had a Hall of Fame major league career.

    Edgar didn't.

    How so?

Both were arbitrarily (unfairly) held back in the minors for multiple years despite putting up legendary numbers up through age 25.
