Bet USF regrets not hiring Gene Keady now?

Dude wanted the job. And he ran a pretty clean program in West Lafayette.

Best Gene Keady story - whether or not it's true, someone will have to chip in and tell.
Gene walks into the Big Ten meetings, sits down, then maybe 15 minutes in, some woman sits next to Gene, he doesn't acknowledge her.
The coach on the other side of Gene says, what, the conference sprung for escorts this year?
Gene then introduces said coach to Mrs. Keady.

If that's not a true story, it should be.

USF can hire him now, no? Keady isn't coaching anywhere, is he?

It's a decent job in a decent league, but I don't know where he'd live because it's pretty darn expensive there and the Jesuits don't pay all that well. Assistants would have an even harder time.

Jessie Evans' daughter, Jayda, is in the biz, with the Seattle Times, I think.

All I'm saying is that they whiffed last time. They can hire him now, but he's old and won't be coaching for long, if he's even interested in coming back.

Still think it's shameful the way he was shoved out at Purdue.

  11. No. The fans were hoping that was the case, but he was definitely drunk. He did have prescription medication for his back, but his blood alcohol level was way too high and he admitted he "bought a bottle."
The only real question is how long he had been back to drinking and whether he is actually clean now.

Should make it a little more interesting to see USF's WCC games the next few months.
