Murphy's a far better actor than he gets credit for and his impersonation of Pryor in "Raw" was phenomenal. My only worry is that both Murphy and Pryor are far too well known for one to pull off portraying the other.

Then again, if Cate Blanchett can pull off Bob Dylan, I suppose anything's possible ...

I think Murphy wants the Oscar that he should have won a couple years back and sees this as a way to get it.

I think the only way this doesn't work is if Murphy looks too much like himself. He needs to look exactly like Pryor, so it's Pryor and not "Eddie doing Pryor" which would be a distraction. We know he can do the voice.

Fenian, I'm getting the sense you don't approve of this project.

If Jim Carrey didn't win the Oscar for playing Andy Kaufman, I doubt Murphy can win for playing Pryor.

As long as they cover Pryor's The Toy era, I'm down.

    "U.S.? You ass!"

I think Murphy is hilarious but I'm not sure he can pull this off. As somebody said, it will be "Eddie Playing Pryor."

As long as Murphy also plays three fat people, I'm down. ::)

Eddie hasn't done a good film since 1992, I sure hope this one is different.

  12. What do you he should have won the Oscar for?
