He has an eye for young talent, but has a hankering for dealing out large, non-movable contracts. He may have scouted Utley, Howard, and Hamels, but what about Burrell and Abreu's contract?

I don't really mind Juice-breu right now. How's Matt Smith & C.J. Henry working out for you guys?

    Wade never won a title.

Wade made plenty of moves at the deadline...for bad relievers.

He drained the farm system of talent by repeating this move over and over again.

  7. If you want to make a case about a gm or coach drafting off his predecessor's heat you can look at Florida football and IU basketball. You can argue that Bobby Knight would have taken that 01 team to the final four, and perhaps won the title, but no one can argue that Ron Zook would have won a championship like Meyer did.

Even if Wade was still the GM, and he didn't trade them away, it's likely the young guys would bail as soon as they could just like Rolen and Schilling et. al.

I thought Rolen wanted out because he couldn't stand Bowa.

  9. Bowa was Wade's guy, wasn't he?

Schilling asked to come back to Philadelphia and start the first game in Citizens Bank Park, but Wade told him no way. Rolen wanted out because he wanted a nicer manager than Bowa, and got La Russa. Who knows.

I think he was Bill Giles' guy.
