    Careful, Bubs.

You keep talking like that and some of our message-board tough guys will drag you before the SportsJournalists.com Unamerican Activities Committee.

They can bring it. When it comes to the economy, I'm borderline socialist.

I see only one solution to the problem -- Wal-Mart's low, low prices.

All I know is my family loves coming to the U.S. The pound has never been stronger in relation to the dollar, meaning as relatively cheap as everyone finds things over here, it's doubly so for them.

The rich will head to Europe. America will become a pauper society. Very, very soon.

The subprime mortgage scam only goes to prove once again: there's no such thing as a free lunch and there's a sucker born every minute.

It also speaks to a larger truth -- many regular people in our economy cannot save enough to make a decent down payment on a house.

A truth that can be traced back to corporate lying bastards....who prey off those people like scam artists hit old people.

It's generally not good economic policy to consistently spend more than you earn, and to owe a lot of money. It's true in economics at the personal and the governmental level.

You have trouble paying your bills on your current income? The either make more money, or cut your spending.

Congress, which routinely cuts taxes and adds tax loopsholes and tax exemptions to anyone who slips them some campaign cash, while approving pork-barrel projects at unprecedented levels, can't grasp this fact and we keep electing the same free spenders.

GOP and Demos equally guilty in this mess.

Sure we should. There are always things to worry about in the economy. But, for example, are high oil prices good or bad? Higher prices cut back on consumption and encourage research into other sources of energy. Is a low dollar good or bad? It makes our labor and products more competitive on the world market. Arguments on both sides of this issue are myriad.

Prediction: a low dollar will not drive the rich to Europe, just as the re-election of Bush did not drive wealthy progressives to Europe. That's balderdash.

Another prediction: no matter what the Saudi's think, the dollar won't go much lower.

The direction of the renminbi in the coming years is of more compelling interest, in my opinion.
