Texts also work when you can't get through on the cell phone, or at least that was Moddy's advice during the Virginia Tech stuff.

SoCal has been overdue for a good shaker.

Can't get through to a close friend in Corona or brother/sister-in-law in Upland/Rancho Cucamonga.

Yeah, they take hella less bandwidth. I'm trying to teach my mother how to text before hurricane season gets too busy.

What part of LA was this in? As in north, south, west or east?

I have friends in Bakersfield and my sister lives near Merce, though I'm guessing it wouldn't have done anything that far north.

It was in Chino Hills. 50 miles east of L.A.

Hell, it's possible they felt a small rumbling in Bakersfield. But nothing major.

Diana Taurasi is from Chino. Shouldn't we get comment from her?

Any of the broadcast networks on?

It was 30 miles east-southeast from L.A. Civic Center.
And some reports say there was a slight rumbling in Las Vegas, so Bakersfield certainly would be possible, though that's a lot of mountains to go through.

I bet this is going to be revised up from a 5.9.

    Why?

A hunch or just because it was felt so far away?

Here's a better map for where the epicenter was located.
