I loved Shea as a child.

  3. I can't believe this is still going on.

Shea was good at first. Then it went to far.

  5. I'll always have a soft spot for it. I was just there over the weekend. It's a dump, no doubt, but it holds some special memories for the franchise and for many fans. But I'm glad to see it go.

Prince, I prefer to remember Shea as it was. No desire to go back and see it a last time.

As Ralph used to say, "It is gone, goodbye."

Shea is the reason why the Dodgers left Brooklyn. Walter O'Malley wanted to stay, but wanted the stadium right downtown on top of major transportation hub. Several subway lines and a LIRR stop would move tens of thousands of people to every game. But, it was Robert Moses who wanted them to go to A city-owned park in Flushing. And as anyone who knows New York in the 50s and 60s, what Robert Moses wanted, Moses got. O'Malley moved to LA, convinced Giants owner Horace Stoneham to move to San Fran and Moses got his team in Flushing.

I'll say this: Shea has family bathrooms with locking doors. That alone vaults it ahead of many other parks.
