Very true. Also, golfers, generally are honorable players..... tennis players cheat like nobody's business. More hookers than Vegas.

The Williams sisters ARE in the draw (both of them).

Why doesn't anyone interview the athletes and ask why they chose to play? I bet most of them don't read a paper and have no clue Peer was denied a visa.

"All the players support Shahar. We are all athletes and we stand for tennis," said Venus Williams. "The players have to be unified and support the Tour whichever direction they take on the issue."

Venus has a clue, she just doesn't know what to do with it.

You sure this is exactly same as what happened in South Africa, yab? I understand that there's discrimination and I hope they give her the visa(although like Dubai has said, you have to worry about her safety), comparing Israeli citizens to the blacks in South Africa is a little much dont ya think?

And here is the excuse-making from the people running the tournament. There is an Israeli who has applied for a visa so he can compete in the men's tournament next week. Of course, these assholes will wait until the last second to say no just to make it harder to cancel the thing. Of course, that will be the excuse for letting them get away with it, rather than the tour forcing the decision right now.

Utterly disgraceful, but not surprising, that no players dropped out this week in protest.

I'll jump in on that one. Are the situations different? Yes. Is it still bigotry in both cases? Damn right it is.

Not saying if its justified or not, but I thought the excuse was fear for their security.

The key word there is excuse, not reason. It is a violation and the tournament should never be sanctioned again. And it sure sounds like you are looking for justification.

Comparing the way Jewish people have been treated by most of the world for the past 1500 years and the way Africans have been treated over the same time frame is within the same standard deviation of evil.
I'd put the Jewish treatment from the Inquisition to the Eastern European Pogroms thru the Holocaust the immoral equivalent of the European conquest and enslavement of the SubSaharan Africans, which not only resulted in the horrors of chattel slavery and the middle passage but also Apartheid in South Africa. The absolute evil that has gone on to Africans by Europeans and amongst themselves over the past 150 years is directly related to the European colonization of Africa. Niger, Sudan, Chad, Nigeria, Somalia...have all been holocausts of one sort or another. And all beginning with the same racist creed. Black Africans and Jews are not the human equivalent of white christian Europeans.

No I don't honestly think the comparison is a bit much.

First of all they're not letting the athlete in because she's Israeli, not Jewish. Big big difference. Sorry but to comapre the Israeli citizens to the blacks in South Africa at the time is a huge reach.
