Anyway, isn't what he's saying about the UAE basically true?
Doesn't it call for, if not a formal boycott, then an outbreak of individual conscience among the athletes, if not on the issue of anti-Semitism then on the issue of their appalling treatment of women?

Damn right, the players should boycott the tournament.
Sponsors and TV should also boycott it.

    It's a no-brainer.

I would hope Venus and the rest of the women on tour do more than just give a soundbyte supporting Peer. If anyone wants to pull out, the WTA should give them its full blessing.

The WTA should pay them a bonus.

    Agreed.

I'd love to see one high-profile player make a stand here...

Anyone remember Tom Watson resigning his country club membership because the club wouldn't allow a Jewish member? It was a real big deal because that was the club he grew up playing at and its pro was his longtime coach and close friend.

I always thought that was a pretty classy move.

Sad to say, I don't think the current players care about anything much more than their paychecks.
If the Dubai sponsors want to pay huge appearance fees, well, then it's no big deal to most of the big-name players if one player doesn't get a visa and can't play.

True, but on the other hand, his wife and kids are Jewish, so it would have kind of a dick move if he hadn't done it...
