    On another note, although I'm a longtime member, I hardly ever post on SportsJournalists.com, so it's a great honor that this thread might possibly become the NYE drunk-posting thread. Slainte!

    The Bird rocks. Known him for about 1 1/2 decades and our IE connections. Missed a recent chance at a meet-up because I was on the links -- and besides, the Puppet beats drinks with me any day of the week. Glad you enjoyed the drinks with him.

    I've had the privilege of playing a round of golf or two with Bird. We were even teammates at the AV Press years and years ago. Bird's good people. I'll be hoisting a few for him tonight.
