Gay marriage fires the troops up around here? I guess I don't pay close enough attention.

The generation gap just turned into a generation canyon.

Someone whining because they can't wear flip flops to work?

    Grow up.

You wanna wear shorts and flip flops? Try getting a gig as a lifeguard. You are, after all, working as a professional in an office building.

Sure, flip flops aren't necessarily a good argument.

But what's next? Are they going to require me to wear a shirt and tie in every day? Sorry, they don't pay me enough -- especially as a part-timer/temp -- to update my closet to conform.

I'm not opposed to wearing pants and a collared shirt every day, but I do understand where dude is coming from. I work 20-some hours a week, and most days I'm in the office answering phones or paginating the agate pages. On those days, I wear shorts, flip flops and a t-shirt. When I go cover soccer, I still may wear shorts and flip flops, but I'll have a collared shirt (often times, I opt for shoes sted flops, but ...).

So awful when you're asked to play the part of a professional.

Wearing a tie makes you a professional? Bullshit.

Yeah, you know there are some opportunities on the Freelance Board that probably wouldn't give a shit if you wore flip flops.

So I guess most the women in the offices I've worked aren't professional?
