Doyel rips not just 1 but 3 of SJ.s "favorites"

Our man (boy?) Greggy Doyel is picking North Carolina to beat Michigan State and he belittles columns by Albom, Whitlock and Mariotti doing so.

Not that I have a problem with Doyel-ee going after Jug Ears and Mt. Mariotti Munster. But do readers care that he has an opinion that differs from other writers?

Doyel proving that he is as big an egomaniac (and asshole) as those he rips.

Doyel is like a little kid who keeps throwing rocks at a house, only the rocks never reach the house because he's not good enough, so nobody really gives a shit.

How come Munster has quotes from Izzo but never did from Ozzie?

Munster. ... thanks Slap. The preferred nickname has been edited in.

Because he knows Izzo didn't want to kick his ass. ... Also, there were quote sheets.

Doyel isn't doing anything that Woody Paige, Jim Rome, Marriotti or others haven't done to get their name "out there" by being a jerk. In journalism today - it is the name on the back of the jersey that matters more than the name on the front of the jersey. He wants to be the "bad boy" of sports journalism - that's fine.

Bashing athletes/coaches and bashing your peers once a month are two different things IMO.

Yes, because this entire freaking business has become "hey, look at me."
One more reason for the demise of journalism.

Watch out. Doyel and his skullcap might flag you down and beat your ass using his manly boxing skills.

Sometimes it blows my mind that so many great, hard-working reporters have been laid off or walked away from the business while some knucklehead like Doyel keeps his job. Now granted it's with CBSSports.com no one cares.

    That is a great analogy.
