I threw this on the original Donovan thread, but it probably deserves its own. If so, what a shambles.

That cursing you hear is Anthony Grant's.

He put out a statement that he hadn't been offered the job just before this came out.

You would be too if you had to go back to VCU.

If you're Grant, would you really want to follow Donovan? This isn't Pitino leaving Tubby Smith with a full cupboard. There's good players in Gainesville, no doubt, but Florida won't be a title team next year or the year following.

This certainly sheds some light on the bizarre move by Foley of flying to Richmond, getting off the plane to make phone calls and then turning around 45 minutes later.

    Great job reporting by Goodman.

Honestly, I'm not sure even Billy can pull this one off. After the whole sequence of events -- from tiptoeing around the Kentucky issue throughout the NCAA Tournament, to the long contract dance, to bolting for the Magic -- his credibility is basically gone. He's been exposed as a total phoney. With Florida fans and recruits. With the administration. With the college basketball community in general.

However, If Billy does wiggle out of his contract with the Magic, he'll never work in the NBA. Ever.

I think you would, because Florida is a destination for basketball now. As a former assistant as well, he already has ties to the area, and he's got a good incoming class as well as the respect of all the players who are already there.

You're kidding right? If this happens, Donovan get welcomed back to Florida with open arms, and all will be well. You're right that he won't go to the NBA, but this will get forgotten when next college season opens.

Meanwhile, the frauds on ESPN just reported that "ESPN's Andy Katz has learned that Billy Donovan.... blah blah blah"

Guess he learned it by reading Goodman.
