Jim Mandich always has been a total blowhard.

Berman has been doing the champagne bit for 20 years, and it's gotten hammier and hammier over time.

Sunday, Dec. 23, at Foxboro. The NFL's first 100-point game.

how come we never hear shula brag about how he screwed the jets over in the 1982 afc title game by not having the tarp on the field in a monsoon before the game? that miami team had no offense, the jets had freeman mcneil and wesley walker, and the mud bowl was the beginning of the end of richard todd.

now he says the patriots are asterisk-worthy? as if he never did anything below board.

    Wow... that's dumb.

    Transported by time machine.

And Eric Heiden's times are now buried in the Olympic record books.

Can't have one era's champion play another's without at least making the assumption that their players would be of proximate, size, strength and speed.

shockey, Shula pretty much did the same thing in the 1985 AFC Championship Game. Just went the other way.

First... there was never a "tarp" at the Orange Bowl.

    N-E-V-E-R.

Why the hell would you need a tarp for a football-only facility? Don't let facts get in the way.

Second, the OB has Prescription Athletic Turf...among the first stadiums to have it. Had a sand base and water pumps.

That field was fine to play on. It was the in-game rain that killed the spineless Jets.

Yeah.... if they had a tarp, believe you fucking me, that baby is keeping that track fast so Marino can blow those pretenders out of the building.

    Ridiculous Oliver Stone-lites.

Sure you can, if the old gaffers are going to start getting huffy about the next generation threatening their records.

If the 2007 Patriots go 16-0, it doesn't diminish anything the 1972 Dolphins did. But if the '72 Dolphins are going to pitch a fit and claim the Patriots are a less deserving team, then it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty: the 2007 Patriots would nuke the 1972 Dolphins off the field by as many points as they felt like scoring.
