Does this put all future Bill Simmons criticism in a certain context?

    He had a blog. This was back in the day when nobody had blogs and not everyone had the internet or even computers. Someone saw it and thought he would be good at it. Which he was. Except years later he still writes about the same tired things.

    The most hateful letters and e-mails sent to my shop come from readers who fail to distinguish columns and editorials from hard-news stories. Especially online.

    Since Bill Simmons has been associated with journalists for the past 10 years, I don't see how this kind of reaction could be surprising to him.

    I don't think he's a journalist, but I think it's weak whenever any of those ESPN writers pull the "Oh man! Quit e-mailing me! You're weak/stupid and I was right to begin with!" schtick.

    As far as the Simmons breaking the Payton story, I suspect that was a joke.
