Does SJ.com Have To Rub It In?

It is bad enough that too many of my friends in the newspaper industry are struggling to either find jobs or get by, but does SportsJournalists.com have to keep reminding us about it.

One of the rotating ads at the bottom of threads proclaims in something like 144 point text Journalism Is Dead with this link:

    Thanks SportsJournalists.com

Is this the fourth thread on the "journalism is dead" ad, or is it just me?

Place doesn't pay for itself. And as a non-subscriber, I can't really bitch about the ads (as long as they're SFW).

I can't afford to subscribe because I'm a journalist and it's either subscribe or forgo one meal per week.

Well, we could cut down to a 720p HD TV, but that's unthinkable.

    :D

It's a common lament. But I think (think) that Lucas doesn't have final approval of ads. I think they're google ads, so they are chosen off the words that are posted. Sadly, several of us have posted that journalism is dead. :(

Yep, that $1.15384615385 per week of subscribing is a real budget-buster.

Why subscribe when I can get the same content online for free?

I just resubscribed. Hell, even in Canadian dollars it's only $71.00 a year.

Don't be so damn cheap, people. subscribe.

Remember, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Or a free website.

This place is the best value around.

Always thought of SportsJournalists.com as the place that rubs one out, not in.

Exactly. If you don't like the ads, just ignore them or contribute and make them go away.
