Which poll are you looking at? Most of them have Obama winning.

Obama can walk up to the podium at the Dem Convention and tell Hillary to go fuck herself and he'll still win the election. Putting her on the ticket will only make things more difficult for him, both in the election and in the White House.

The Clinton supporters who will supposedly vote for McCain (and I'm not buying that line of thinking for a second) will more than be offset by all the young first-time voters who will vote for Obama if he picks another runningmate.

Unless he gets caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl he's going to be President.

    I don't buy that for a second.

Think about all the states Obama has lost (because of Clinton supporters). Now add in all the regular GOP voters, and I smell a freaking landslide.

The young voters were supposed to come out for Kerry, too.

    They never do.

But that's assuming that the lion's share of party activists behind Clinton won't support Obama in the general election. Enlightened self interest tells us that unless they enjoy being the party out of the White House, they will back Obama when it's down to brass tacks.

When Bill Richardson endorsed Obama, all of Clinton's supporters began viewing him as a traitor who sold his soul to the devil for the VP slot. Making him VP won't help among Hillary supporters.

    It's a delicate balancing act.
Will the hatred of Obama among Clinton supporters outweigh their self-interests in seeing the policies of Bush and conservatives continue for another four years?
The answer could be yes, thinking McCain will be a one-term president and Hillary can run again in 2012.

Forget whether he should or shouldn't. It. Will. Never. Happen.

One thing we've learned about Obama is that his wife will have a key role in his administration. Hillary would more or less demand a co-presidency. Those two women would never get along, and for that reason, see above.

    Agreed, unfortunately.

Or they just think that, with Hillary out of the race, McCain is closer to what they want than Obama.

Fact is there is a very large portion of the Dems' base that is not enamored with Obama for whatever reason. He's going to have his work cut out trying to keep them from staying home or voting for McCain.

Hillary wouldn't help Obama, whose message has been change from the start. Going with Clinton with all that White House experience wouldn't speak to that message. He could go with someone like Strickland who supported Hillary, but she would be better served in the Cabinet, where she can spearhead health care reform, which has been her thing for years.

He doesn't need Hillary to win. The fact that he's this close to the nomination is proof of that.

Where have we learned that Michelle Obama will have a key role in anything?

    Perhaps.

But after the tenor of their campaigns, how could they work with each other? To say nothing of trusting each other.

That's insane. Did anybody watch the Dem debates? Obama and Hillary agreed on 95% of the issues.

This is about nothing more than women being upset that a black man got there before a woman.
