Does Damon Allen belong in the Football Hall of Fame? Marino says no Moon, yes

Can't win. If Williams had come up here and torn the league apart, it's what he was supposed to do because this is only the CFL. Now that he's tanked, the excuse is, "well, he's only Ricky Williams, it's not like he's great or anything."

Double J, it's the old "if it didn't come from the U S of A, it musn't be any good."

Damon Allen can't possibly be any good because he didn't play in the NFL.

It's the same arrogance Americans have carried over to the intenational competition and they still don't get it, all evidence to the contrary. NFL football is their last bastion.

Good column in today's Star about just that.

"We commit the single most arrogant and unpardonable mistake in competition: We underestimate the opponent," writes columnist Michael Wilbon of the Washington Post. "Hell, half the time we don't even pay any attention to the opponent. We didn't know the Greek players, so how could they be any good? Where are their phat shoe contracts? Where were they in the Top 10 Dunks on SportsCenter? How talented could they be if they don't have a Gatorade commercial or answer to a single name like Shaq or Kobe or LeBron?"

Talk to me about that when Henry Burris and Eric Crouch aren't on rosters as QBs.

Any argument that begins with those five words suggests the dude isn't very FAMEous.

There's no way this guy belongs in Canton. None.

At least he's not saying the Hall should be renamed.

Dude, you sound extremely provincial, myopic and whiny in this thread.

    That's funny.

I started a thread suggesting that a non NFL player should be at least considered for the American Football Hall of Fame.

I'd say that those of you who dismissed it out of hand are the provincial and myopic ones.

Like I said, it's the usual "If it didn't happen in the U S of A, it didn't happen" syndrome.

    No.

You are ignoring talent level to forward your jingoism.

No, it's the NFL and its fans who continue to ignore talent.

Yeah, Henry Burris and Eric Crouch didn't deserve what they got from the NFL.
