And it's not Miracle on Ice but the gold won in Lake Placid in 1960

Great, great piece by Stu Hackel in Slap Shot (NYTimes hockey blog) today

Assembling a solid documentary of this victory that would go beyond on-camera recollections might have been almost as challenging as winning the medal itself. Little archival footage of this team exists and some of what remains is barely viewable since the some cameras and arena lighting yielded dark or grainy images.

    Can't wait to see this.

I know a guy who lived in Lake Placid at the time of this game, but decided to travel in Europe during the Olympics.

    My bad. Wrong decade.

Original Washington Cap Tommy Williams was a member of that Squaw Valley team. I still have his Caps' trading card. Wonder if it's worth anything?

The Rangers won the gold medal in 1960? Or did the Olympic team just borrow the unis?
