    Would he be as pissed if they were going to be, say, surgeons?

    I read this with a teacher's mind.

    I just want to hand a copy of it to every kid who whines about life not being fair and how they had excuses about why they couldn't do well.

    Dad sounds like a prick, but in the "drill sergeant/train you for life" kind of way.
