Disney must pay Allen Dean Foster

    This isn't exactly journalism related, but it is very related to copyright law and the payment of royalties for writing. I thought that it might be of interest here. It's made quite a stir in SF circles.

    As a life-long freelancer I've seen this happen countless times when media companies are bought and sold. Writers and their work become part of the package and they have to shovel themselves out to get what's owed them. Worse, the lawyers simply direct their corporate clients to demand that all writing going forward be WMFH. Don't like it? We'll hire someone else. At least ADF has marquee properties that can put this particular imbroglio on the front page. He needs to get it past a professional trade organization and onto a news editor's desk. Just not ABC News.
