    Homestead-Miami Speedway seeks to hire a Director of Public Relations to lead all phases of PR initiatives tied to the promotion and ticket sales of the Speedway’s major events, highlighted by: Ford Championship Weekend, the Championship finales of the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series; the NextEra Resources Indy Championships, featuring the series-crowning finales of the IZOD IndyCar and Firestone Indy Lights Series; and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.

    Essential Responsibilities, Duties and Functions:

    •Build new, and advancing existing, relationships with local, regional and national media—via proactive, compelling, fresh storylines—by way of educating media on the motorsports culture (via frequent and timely correspondence with local media, press tours, community events, speaking engagements, social media, and press releases/conferences, among additional initiatives)
    •Raise Homestead-Miami Speedway’s profile as THE Championship Track—highlighting historical aspect of hosting multiple Championship weekends— to cultivate increased ticket sales by way of better educating the crowded South Florida entertainment marketplace with increased exposure of motorsports (via frequent outreach, community events, media tours, speaking engagements and driver appearances)
    •Build new and advancing existing relationships with local, regional and national HISPANIC media to cultivate increased ticket buyers via initiatives specific to, and likely to resonate with, Hispanic community
    •Direct and manage content, development, strategy and maintenance of THEChampionshipTrack.com
    •Increase social-networking PR components via increased online video and audio presence (internally produced and distributed); photography; blogs; and e-content, etc. (general and Hispanic markets)
    •Emphasize to South Florida media local-driver ties and continue to strengthen existing formidable relationships with PR representatives of such
    •Direct Community Relations Manager in all efforts tied to expanding Homestead-Miami Speedway’s footprint in community and charitable initiatives
    •Direct all media relations, from expedition of race-weekend credentialing process, to management of media center and press box, to assisting with TV and radio broadcasts, to brainstorming and coordinating media-specific, special-event programs
    •Continue promotion/presentation of Homestead-Miami Speedway as a year-round event destination—the track is “hot” more than 280 days each year—via: social networks; THECHampionshipTrack.com; monthly “track events” calendar; “Community Update” newsletter; speaking tours; newspaper/event website calendars; and entertainment media (BizBash, Miami-Dade Sports Commission, etc.)
    •Compile and manage media, photo and video files/archive related to Homestead-Miami Speedway specifically, and motorsports in general
    •Establish Homestead-Miami Speedway executives as go-to source for local and national media on motorsports-related issues, and create corresponding on-air opportunities for such personnel
    •Create and increase date-capture opportunities to increase direct communication with consumers/potential race fans via increased activity in the community (general and Hispanic markets) and social-media avenues
    Position Summary:

    In the Director of Public Relations position, we are seeking candidates who possess extremely proactive and creative outreach skills necessary to create initiatives that will translate into increased ticket sales. The duties of this position—we emphasize—extend well beyond simply reacting/managing the existing media. Director of Public Relations will be charged with brainstorming, initiating and producing big-picture, high-impact “growth” tasks tied to the promotion of ticket sales


    Specific Job Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

    •Excellent writing skills and proficiency with AP Style to contribute to both on- and off-line content
    •Ability to aggressively and proactively generate fresh, creative story angles and sources to provide to both local and national media across multiple beats (motorsports, lifestyle, business, entertainment)
    •Eagerness to contribute to Consumer Marketing and Corporate Sales departments new ideas integrating PR efforts aimed at increasing both media coverage and ticket sales
    •Strong resourcefulness and eagerness to tap into knowledge of industry colleagues
    •Ability to brainstorm and manage both on- and off-site events tied to track and event promotion
    •Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    •Ability to adjust and adapt in order to resolve unforeseen situations under pressure
    •Ability to work well with different personalities in a fast-paced environment
    •Enterprising and self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
    •Knowledge of motorsports (NASCAR, IndyCar, etc.), with a thirst to learn more
    •Ability to manage and supervise interns and volunteer staff; to assign tasks and projects; to communicate consistent expectations; and manage projects to successful completion
    •Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information
    •Availability to work non-traditional hours in conjunction with events
    •Exceptional interpersonal and telephone skills
    •Knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel
    •Eagerness and progressive/positive attitude to assist in additional departments in order to achieve teamwork atmosphere at Homestead-Miami Speedway
    Requirements:

    B.A. in PR/Journalism/Communications/Related Field
    5 years Communications-related experience
