    Digital First Sports Columnist /Reporter Description at Cox Media Group

    Cox Media Group Ohio is seeking a multi-media sports reporter/columnist responsible for covering a wide range of topics, including the NFL, College Football, MLB, College Basketball, high schools and trending topics.

    This reporter’s work would be for all CMGO platforms, including Dayton Daily News, My Dayton Daily news.com, WHIO-TV, Springfield News-Sun, (Hamilton/Middletown) Journal-News and others as needed.

    Responsibilities:
    • Writer should be able to recognize breaking news and trends and originate ideas for content.
    • Report and write with a strong sense of urgency, energy and tenacity.
    • Write clearly and authoritatively, with sophistication, absolute accuracy and balance, all while doing it on deadline and in a variety of technology tools and social media platforms.
    • Social media coverage of local events, including posting to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Periscope and other platforms, and interaction/engagement with audience.
    • Engages and embrace the community through frequent posts online.
    • Curation and aggregation of social media and other news content; creation of online photo galleries, including taking photos, editing and posting to digital platforms.
    • Analyzing site metrics, social media performance and local/national trending content to determine content subject matter, in addition to more traditional, face-to-face reporting.
    • Production of both snackable and deep-dive content serving free and premium CMGO products as appropriate.
    • Manage time effectively, juggling long-term and short-term work.
    • Collaborates effectively with others, along with communicate and work effectively with a team of sports journalists to give a complete picture of sports coverage
    • Must have reliable transportation, or access to it, and be able to travel within the assigned area when needed.
    Qualifications
    Experience:
    • 1-3 years of experience creating content for a business-to-consumer website preferred.
    • Demonstrated strong news judgment.
    Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Established social media presence on various platforms. Interest particularly in Twitter, Facebook, lnstagram, Pinterest, Reddit, Vine, Google+. (Candidates should supply handles for verification.)
    • Flexibility in shift starting times and in work location.

    I guess it's a given you should provide clips, although it doesn't expressly say that. They do seem to be interested in knowing your handle for a bunch of second-tier social media sites.
