    We've had the touch screens for years now. I'm still nostalgic for the old cloth-curtain, click-the-little levers booths that gave you a satisfyingly solid "kerchunk" when you finally pulled the trigger.

    Funny with all this technology, we still get a paper ballot and mark a big X beside the name.

    Then each polling station counts the ballots manually.

    Seems to work. No chads.

    At my polling station today, I was number 46 at 6:45. In the election last November, which had nothing more interesting than a town council race, I was number 4 at 7:15.
