They were also on networks, and not a premium channel like HBO.

I figure the downward spiral of celebrity goes thus:
    Movie star
    TV star
    Cable TV star
Hallmark Movie of the Week star
    Guest star
    Reality Show
    Soap actor
    Commercials
    Infomercials

Sorry, Jake, but I'm with him there. Total game-changer, the availability of shows.

Drew Brees does the exact same type of commercial for that nighttime crap, I believe.

The HBO audience consists of paying customers. Therefore, its program ratings are a direct measure of financial success, while ratings for network advertiser-financed programs are not. The question for HBO is what percentage of its subscribers equals a 1.6? If it's high, then yippee!

I think reality show on E! about rehab would probably slide in there between commercials and infomercials. And the fact that you don't have porn somewhere here on the list invalidates the whole thing.

Some of those ads pay crazy money.

The voiceover gigs are the easiest money in Hollywood. They pay crazy money for someone like Tim Allen or Kelsey Grammer to read a few lines...

Almost every A-list actress out there has done commercials or print ads for perfume or makeup or something like that. Some of them make probably make more for an ad campaign than they do for a movie. Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, or Julia Roberts might be exceptions, but I know I've seen ads with Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Renee Zellwegger etc...

Missing from your list: Regional dinner theatre (esp. in Florida)

A tie-in with a perfume or cosmetics company is worth so much more money for an actress than a movie or any two movies you can imagine.

Have we seen a movie star wind up in a soap? I know James Franco did one as an art project and several started on soaps, but have any landed on one on the way down?
