I remember watching that game as an 8-year-old. Seemed weird then, but I'm all for it if they want to try that experiement again.

    1. Montana.
    2. Elway.
    3. Favre (keeping the spot warm for Manning)

No way Elway was better than Favre.

    No freaking way.

  4. How about this nonsense, from Peter King:

SI's top NFL writer can't be bothered to stay up to watch the final two minutes of the ONLY NFL game that was on that night? This is who SI goes to for insight?

Yes, way. Beyond that, no real way to truly prove one or the other.

I say there is no way Favre is better than Elway,
    No Freakin way

Why, because Elway has fewer attempts, completions, touchdowns and a lower career completion percentage?

Not to mention winning fewer games?

Or maybe because Favre also leads in all those statistics in playoff games?

Montana was blessed to have played within what was the absolutely-perfect system for him . . . with a TON of great players around him.

I'm not plumping for any of the others named. At a bar, over a couple of beers, I can go on for at least fifteen minutes about the flaws of Favre, Marino (especially) and Elway.
That doesn't mean I think they suck. They were all GREAT quarterbacks. But all have
flaws which prevent(ed) them from being better than they could be.

    Is Favre still not dead?

    Eh, well, there's always tomorrow.

Won 2 super bowls went to 3 others.
Like I said Favre was great and I'm not going to put him down but IMO Elway is the better QB.

And was 0-3 before he got Terrell Davis and a line that could pave Interstate.

  12. And he got beat by much better teams every time out.

Why is it that writers who write about team sports too often forget that they're dealing with TEAM sports?
