Did a dozen Oakland cops have sex with an underage girl?

What on earth makes you think that the police union shouldn't defend these cops' rights, no matter what actually transpired? Isn't that the union's responsibility? Couldn't the union be sued by the cops if in fact it failed to adequately defend them?

KRON 4 is the Channel 2 news in Anchorman: they keep getting their asses handed to them by everyone else who are surprised they're still around. It isn't surprising that if they broke the story someone is telling it way better.

It seems like KRON 4 is only around to give Gary Radnich's ego a place to go.

The righties continue to pound this drum, virtually any time any union vs management dispute comes up: "the union only gives a damn about its own members."

Well, no shit. It's only kinda like the reason they exist.

I think you can draw a distinction between private employer labor unions and unions of public employees particularly public safety, health and education.

No; the welfare and protection of the members is the reason any union exists.

To go apeshit because they act in accordance with this fact is to ignore the basic rationale for their existence.

Unions can also obstruct justice on behalf of their members.

Had a school tell us something along this line several years ago regarding an "alleged" hazing/sexual assault with a foreign item and the wrestling team.
Allegedly, one of the wrestlers was held down by others and had a tampon inserted. This all allegedly happened before the coach, who worked outside of the school, arrived for practice. His non-presence was not alleged — he really wasn't there yet.
However, the alleged victim allegedly decline to press the issue.
The school told us there was no incident, alleged or otherwise. It did suspend at least one wrestler, not allegedly, but wouldn't say why.
