Hanging out watching Anthony Bourdain, I saw a promo for a new Travel Channel show featuring Dhani Jones.

The premise is he goes around the globe and particiaptes in traditional sports, for example Rugby in England, Hurling in Ireland, Muay Thai in Thailand etc., and the cultures around those sports and places they are played in.

Seems like it could be interesting, and Jones should be a pretty good host. Anyone else going to join me in tuning in?

I always wanted to see Barry Sanders play high-level rugby.

Dhani Jones is a really interesting guy. This is a good idea. That would be a difficult concept to carry and make interesting, but he is one who can do it. I will definitely check this out.

His bow ties alone would be worth watching. When does this show hit the air? The promos never said. It did, however, give the channel's Web site, which made me think it might be an online-only show, which would suck.

    Anyone?

Being a TV show host is great, but he better keep himself in shape. He could be starting again at middle linebacker next year. Sigh.

    Who Dey.

When I saw the one where he fell off the horse during a fox hunt, I couldn't help but wonder if he was in breach of his NFL contract.

Regardless, I'll be watching. And his bow ties do look damn good ... http://www.fivestarties.com/

I wonder if one of his stops will be Miami?
