Detroit Teacher 'Sickouts' Close Schools Again

    And Detroit hasn't had the tax base to support something like that in years either.

    How many years did automatic step and column increases and COLA get funded while maintenance got deferred because of lack of money?

    My friends kid just graduated and is in the Teach for America program; got assigned to Cleveland; 6th graders, low income, get this 38 students......22 DESKS!!! How is a decent education even possible there?? Sad.

    As for union leaders getting raises? Yes looks bad but let's not forget what management got on school side. Plus on construction side, the architect and consultants don't go hungry (my clients build the schools)

    An almost $700 million schools budget just doesn't get you what it used to.

    Really racists on part of the teachers to do this on the day Obama visited
