The lawyer for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick had just pored over documents he'd received in a sealed envelope from Mike Stefani, McCargo's courtroom adversary in a highly charged police whistle-blower case.

The lawyers had spent the morning of Oct. 17 at a Detroit law office with other city attorneys haggling over Stefani's efforts to collect legal fees after winning the trial. It had been a mundane meeting until now -- when McCargo saw what was in the envelope.

It was a court motion from Stefani, rife with excerpts of explicit text messages between the mayor and his chief aide, Christine Beatty. The messages showed, beyond a doubt, the pair had lied at the trial when they denied a sexual affair.

Wow.  McCargo got royally fucked by Kwame and Stefani had the goods to prove it.  Props to Stefani for not giving up on getting those text messages


He'll get past March, battered and bruised.  The voters in Detroit has a fetish for keeping a modern-day Rasputin in office.

You don't battle this tooth-and-nail to keep stuff on an extramarital affair out of the papers. Everybody knows Kilpatrick fucks anything that walks, there isn't going to be anything in that department that would really surprise anybody.

There has to be something really, really big he is trying to keep out of the news.

Kilpatrick, Beatty face felony charges
12-count indictment charges perjury, misconduct and obstruction

UPDATED AT 12:35 P.M.: Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and former chief of staff Christine Beatty were charged today in a 12-county indictment with perjury, obstruction of justice, misconduct in office and conspiracy because of their conduct in last year’s police whistle-blower trial, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced.

Kilpatrick is charged with eight felonies and Beatty with seven. They are: perjury, conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice and misconduct in office.

Worthy said the perjury charges accuse the two of lying during a whistle-blower lawsuit about the firing of Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown and about their romantic relationship.
