    Off the CAPS subject for a moment . . .

    Tampa headline "CHAMPS" bugged me because it could have been written before the game. Regardless of outcome. Sure, it's appropriate for Knoxville. But Knoxville would not have used it had Stanford won. Being a neutral site, Tampa should have used a head that gave its readers an indication of who won, not a head that just said "a champion was declared . . . look at our tiny deck or the photo below to see who it was"

    we run a by the numbers every day on my section front.
    a giant number with a helmet next to it along with some small, meaningless text rocks in my book.
