Deseret News staffers organize byline strike

This is the key graf, I think:

The News and The Salt Lake Tribune , which is owned by MediaNews Group, are partners in a joint operating venture that sells advertising for, prints and distributes both papers."

The appears to be a planned, coordinated part of the partnership, with the papers' territories more or less spelled out, does it not? The Deseret News does the LDS stuff, and the SL Trib handles the more secular, mainstream coverage, and, preferably, neither treads on the other's "beats" or advertising pools.

 

In Utah, not a chance.
