    Let's keep things in perspective. Gannett employees about 46,000 people; barely 2 percent are being cut in this wave of downsizing.

    Yes, it would suck to be among the 600 being let go (the other 400 disappearing positions were already vacant), but it's not a bloodbath.

    That's true, but also not what I was arguing/saying.

    If you're one of the 600, it IS a bloodbath. Since it's your blood the piece of shit have spilled.

    Winning APSE awards makes you more prone to cuts. The suits will reason, "They've been doing great with current staffing. They'll do good with less staffing."

    Matt, sadly, they think that anyway. And I"m not sure how much an APSE award really matters to suits. Probably slightly more than readers care about them (which is just this side of zero).
