Des Moines Register newsroom shrinks

    Gannett sucks. It's Des Moines' turn to have a bloodbath. This is damn-good newspaper that covers everything in Iowa.

    Yeah, but Gannett's stock went up Friday after news came out about the company-wide cuts.

    While I absolutely sympathize with those who have lost their jobs and those who live in daily fear the ax will fall on them, I think this thread title needs to be changed.

    It's not a stretch to think a disgruntled employee could "go postal" in a newsroom and truly shed blood. God forbid it happens, but the higher the layoff numbers go the higher the possibility.

    I agree with Cadet and BYH. My first thought when I read the title was that there was a big fight in the newsroom and someone was cut.
