    sort of strikes me as a retirement haven, not unlike a lot of Florida towns.

    Yeah, most of that part of the state is a big retirement destination. Port Charlotte itself has built up a lot since I was there, but I don't think the demographics have changed all that much.

    Cost of living isn't bad in Port Charlotte. A lot cheaper than Sarasota County, for sure.

    The only thing I miss about living down there is the house I rented for like 450 bucks a month. 2BR/2BA, screened porch, garage, in a nice little subdivision with lots of beautiful oak trees.

    The cops are assholes there.
    But they run a slick speed trap.
