Denis Leary rips autism in his new book

Hey, let me be outraged. I want to be outraged.

 

You don't riff on something like this. You just don't. The fact that it is in print and not just a verbal riff makes it even worse.
I know he's tried to explain it, but when you have to explain a joke, it is a failed attempt at humor.

 

Yeah, we should totally burn him at the stake before actually reading the chapter in question.

Well, guess I don't have to worry about Mrs. T (works with developmentally diabled kids, some of whom have autism) tossing me overboard for Leary anymore.

 

Exactly. It's another example of a writer who hasn't even read the whole book who just grabbed a few lines and tried to turn it into a big story.

Leary is being seriously misrepresented here.

Exactly. I think some people may have overreacted to this. And this thread title is a little misleading. He was ripping parents, not autism.
