My southeastern bona fides are beyond reproach, but I am always amused by my fellow southerners' insistence that their state has the best barbecue. I have broken bread in many a smokehouse across the south, including Texas, and generally find it all to be good. But if one wants to get really picky about it, the Dems really should have located their convention in one of two places if BBQ quality was of paramount importance. These places are:

    Newnan, Ga. (Home of Sprayberry's)
Holly Hill, S.C. (Home of Sweatman's)

I think Sweatman's would be preferable, if only because they're open only two days a week, which would cut down on the insufferableness of it all. :)

Sprayberry's is overrated, and Georgia as a whole has way less good barbeque than its location would suggest.
