Definition of soon

    This is happening to me right now. I interviewed with a paper nearly two weeks ago, and got the "We want to move fast on this," line. Haven't heard anything from them since.

    I got that same treatment from the place I pre-ordered an iPhone when I asked when it would arrive after being told I wouldn't get it the first day it came out, after all.

    I imagine you guys sent the "Thank you for your time" follow-up, as well. If there was no response on that, I'd say it's a wrap.

    Every place I've ever been hired either notified me on the spot, or within two days. But I also have extraordinary luck.

    I did, two days after the interview, and I had put in the letter that I was still interested in the job.

    You probably violated some arcane freemason/sports editor code of conduct without knowing it. Not only will you now not get this job, you'll never work in the industry again. Oh, and when you get home your house will be burned down and your dog murdered.
    That's the definition of "soon."

    "Soon" = later than "sooner," and much later than "soonest."
