Anyone have a printout of this thread for the cardiologists?

  2. Hmmm, I'm down South yet I've never run into deep fried Oreos ... I thought the South was king of that kind of stuff.

Most bizarre deep friend thing I've ever eaten: alligator.

  3. It does taste like chicken and has the texture of fish ...

I've also had it... it's a little chewy and doesn't really have a distinctive taste in my opinion.

I've had gator a couple times. Yummy.

  6. I'm with Lucas. Kind of like chewy chicken.

Chewy chicken, a little bit of a different aftertaste. There's a place near my house that does half-price po'boys on Mondays. When I go, I usually get the blackened crawfish one. Now that's good damned eatin'.

    Rocky Mountain Oysters.

And they weren't bad. They weren't, you know, good, but they weren't bad.

If I was drunk and hungry...

I like calf fries with ketchup.

Place down the street from my old shop had a deal called the Okie Surf-n-Turf. Calf fries and frog legs.

The (thinly-sliced) fried pickles at Rick's on the Bricks in Fort Worth rawk. With a side of ranch, but I usually opt for drowning them in Tabasco. Excellent partner to a cold draft Shiner.

Also, for a whole different fried food experience, don't forget your local sushi house.

    Tempura asparagus is fantastic.

I've drawn the line at deep fried desserts. So no Twinkies, candy bars or Oreos for me.
And no deep fried animal testicle either.
I've had pickles two ways, chips and spears. The spears actually taste like pickle.
The chips taste like whatever sauce - ranch - you dip them in.
TGI Friday's also serves deep fried mac and cheese balls. Very good.
    Gator is good as well.
