That's got to be on the short list of games I'd loved to have seen.

I'm sure you are right, you are more tuned in than I am with this kind of thing. But I do remember thinking when I heard: Damn, I thought he was their next God.
Of course, the Great Architect (of Failure) screwed it up anyway. So it is a moot point. Or a "mute" point as a friend of mine used to write.

Lincecum-Pelphrey-Hochevar was the great debate of that draft. The Royals took Hochevar with the first pick.

Mute point? That's defiantly not right.

Oh, and, yes, the Twinks coveted Pelfrey like a shiny object.

    Alack and alas.

In defense of the Royals (sorta), wasn't that the last year in which they tried to WalMart the draft?

One other contributor to higher rates of arm injuries -- higher mounds. The higher the mound, the more downward torque you're putting on your arm and elbow, and the higher the chance of injury.

The mound has been lowered over time.

Mounds are lower than they were 40 years ago. Used to be 15 inches, now 10.

EDIT: FH beat me to it.

Also, from the first time I saw a Lincecum highlight, and then I saw his size, I thought, "His arm could fall off at any minute." Compare that to big Hochevar and really big Pelphrey, and I would have had a hard time taking Tiny Tim.
