    Thoughts?

    He obviously had a bit more of an opinion about this beyond what was shared. The 'bigger' names in sports media, whatever that means, really don't surprise me. Friendship is their path to a scoop, I suppose. But on a smaller scale, how often do you see this? I wouldn't expect anyone on SJ to admit to doing it themselves, but is it really widespread and prevalent?

    I operate mostly out of New York, and I've lost count of the beat guys casually conversing with players in the clubhouse, notepad tucked away and recorder off. It makes sense that players-journos become cordial after daily interactions, but when is it excessive?
