Weak attempt at being esoteric. Only a few can pull this off ... and this piece isn't it.

That's what happens when you let editors write.

I would never trust a man that hates pizza.

Stuff like that, and Peter King's coffeenerdness and the like, make me feel as if these so-called Big Timers are deliberately taunting everyone else.

"A lot of you have lost or quit your jobs, most of you will never sniff a Super Bowl press box . . . but I'VE got a job! And a VOICE! And I'm gonna use it for THIS!! BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Which is great, because it's not like someone in high position has to re-earn and justify their status every single day now, more than ever before. No, just be lazy and give us this f$#%ing tripe.

"I sort of like pizza now!"

Wonderful! Glad you're earning that press pass!

Let me guess, he also hates beer, breasts and football.

Reading something like this -- the mere assent -- is like inhaling somebody else's gas.

That is one article that could have used a few more exclamation marks.

This is a great post, PR. And dead-on nails.

Even after the business quit me and I luckily found a satisfying escape, I've felt this for quite some time. There is a sense of self-entitlement among some of the "big-timers" in the field -- several at SI come immediately to mind -- that they can do whatever they please and their editors will merely scan and push "send."

It is a symbolic FU to the field, the industry and the legions of foot soldiers who labor to produce readable, interesting stories that actually, you know, do the pesky chores of informing and entertaining.

    Bingo.

Hoppes' crap was awful. Though I didn't really expect much.

I'm not sure Hoppes has an editor. I thought he was an editor.

Is he supposed to be a bon vivant man about town or something?
