daytona beach paper to be sold

    It's my understanding that Cox can indeed buy the paper, and one wonders why they would have gone through all this if they didn't want to. Folks I know there are indeed worried, and there will surely be changes, but as you said, there are far, far worse companies to be bought by.

    Because they wanted to wring more money out of a paper they had a minority stake in.

    A Cox official is quoted this morning as not being interested in buying the paper as a whole:

    I wonder why. So, there's Morris to the north, Gannett to the south, New York Times Co. (Gainesville, Ocala) and Sam Zell (Orlando) to the west. I think NYT.
