Standing at his locker before a group of reporters, Wade said: "There's going to be times when we might lose one, two games in a row, maybe two games, three games in a row, you never know. It's going to seem like the world is crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade has just went down again. But it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games lost and we'll have to get back on track."

Yes, Wade . . . that's EXACTLY what people will act like when you lose a freaking basketball game.

Eh, dumb, but I don't think he meant any offense.

No biggie, though I admit, when I heard it, I thought, "He's gonna get some shit for that one."

Yeah, big fat hairy deal. He's a guy who isn't paid to be eloquent who made a poor choice of words.

I'm convinced his mother just spelled it wrong on the birth certificate and decided to stick with it as a "creative choice" rather than admit she was wrong. :D

Isn't his mom really to blame for that?

(Favorite "misspelled" first name: Anfernee Hardaway.)

But, like Rick said, how high a bar do we set for someone like Dwyane Wade on an issue like this?

I'd be a lot more upset if a politician had made a reference like that.

Uh, what's the correct spelling of Anfernee? Is there one?

There's a big difference between not being eloquent (using bad grammar/being a poor public speaker) versus saying something this dumb. That being said, he he'll take some crap for it (rightly) and people will quickly move on like they should. No malicious intent here.
