When first-time entrepreneurs, even those that do true due diligence, say they have two months' worth of capital, my educated guess is that they will burn through it in half the time.

Well that's a heaping helping of fail right there.

While your point may remain true, these aren't first-time entrepreneurs.

Interesting...tough time to start up much of anything...much less a newspaper...best of luck to them though...it would be nice to see some good news out there.

The model could work. He has credible, if not controversial, journalists in the fold. The problem is that Detroit, and Michigan for that matter, is hurting so badly financially. The timing may be a little premature.

Rob Parker is not a credible journalist. He's got a trail of fabrication/plagiarism in his checkered history, to say nothing of sub-replacement-level competence and major ethical breaches (borrowing large sums of money from sources).

Hell, like he's the only one from the News sports department ever to do that...

Anyone have any idea how large the sports staff is/will be?

Seven right now (eight if you count Wobbie).

Not sure of the breakdown (coverages, desk, etc).

That seems pretty small doesn't it? I don't know exactly how big their coverage area is but only 7 or 8?? Really???

Possibly. I'm not sure if they are done hiring or not.

I'm also not sure if they intend on covering the Detroit pro teams as well as UM/MSU (or just use AP).
