D.B. Cooper's parachute found?

They have DNA evidence with the clip-on tie Cooper left on the plane before jumping -- really, the only mistake he made in a brilliant plan. That's how they were able to determine a few back that Duane Weber, the man (from Florida, I believe) who, on his deathbed, claimed to be Cooper wasn't him.

Another nice rundown of the case:

    Sidebar: I find it funny that there's a d.b. on a thread about a guy named D.B.

    That is all. Carry on.

Not to mention the fashion mistake of wearing a clip-on tie ...

So much for the parachute being his, at least according to the guy who provided the four parachutes back then and whom examined it for the FBI on Friday.

I really hope they don't solve it. It's more fun with it still being a mystery.

I thought this was settled in the mid-1990s.

The most impressive thing about all this is YF found a thread from 2008. He's the anti D_B!

Hasn't the statute of limitations run out on what was a big robbery for its day - - $200-250K?

If it has, why is the FBI spending time and resources investigating this? I can understand a reporter tracking it with the idea of getting a big story or a book out of it, but the FBI's job seems to me to be tracking down criminals who can be prosecuted for their crimes.

Not only that, but I understand the FBI's top suspect died 10 years ago of natural causes.

Haven't looked it up and don't care to, but I'd guess highjacking an airplane, like murder, has no statute of limitations.

They will never know what happened to him...
